White fir are not particularly endangered in the status quo, but there are still a multiplicity of projects in existence to help protect them. In 2004, the land next to Yosemite National Park was declared preserved in order to conserve the white fir and wildlife habitats that it sustains. The Tejon Ranch, at the intersection of the Mojave Desert, the San Joaquin Valley, and the Sierra Nevadas, is another site of preservation where white firs grow. The Sierra Club is conserving Tejon Ranch in order to sustain the biodiversity in the area, since there are many microclimates that support a variety of life forms throughout the space of the ranch.
