Krishna Statue
The Hindu god Vishnu has various forms and incarnations, or avatars, which typically correspond to different places. In West Bengal, Vishnu is worshipped as Krishna, an avatar associated with love, intimacy, and passion, due to his identity as a mischievous cowherder and divine lover of the cowherd maidens. Krishna's divine female partner, Radha, is sometimes depicted at his side but rarely depicted alone. Radha and the cowherd maidens are considered to be the ideal devotees, and worshipers seek to experience the same unwavering and intense love for Krishna in hopes that after death, they will enter Krishna's adventurous paradise.
