Later Years: Promoting Republican Party Politics : Letter from Thomas Dewey to CNB (1955)
In this letter from Dewey to Bailey, Dewey had retired from being govenor and returned to his law practice and thanks Consuelo Northrop Bailey for her letter. Bailey's letter probably contained welcoming comments to his new office and good wishes to his career. However, we can not be to sure because the letter sent from Bailey is no longer present. Thomas Dewey congratulates her success in winning Lieutenant Govenor of Vermont. She was the first female Lieutenant Govenor of any state in United States history. Dewey's response to her letter shows that not every man felt the same way about working women. He appears to truly appreciate Bailey's hardwork and successes.
