White Pine- Mature Tree

Leland J. Prater. “Black and White Tree”. USDA-NRCS PLANTS Database

The solemn White Pine, known for its tall straight trunk, sparse branches, and evergreen needles has more to offer than meets the eye. Though it may not be the flashiest, biggest, or most beautiful, the White Pine is a tree of strength and resilience lasting hundreds of years through harsh winter conditions. Existing long before the colonization of the United States, both man and beast have taken advantage of the White Pine for hundreds of years using it for food, wood, and even to save lives. The White Pine is an integral part of America’s forests and is deeply rooted in the history of the United States.
