FPK in New Orleans : An Ambassador For The State
Her writing is known to evoke all of the characteristics of Louisiana life. Many times she would use Creoles in her story and was able to put on paper almost precisely what the dialect sounded like. She worked on many accents in her works, from Creole to Southern drawl. She had a good ear for that sort of thing. It was not only her ability to conjure up accents and way of speech, but she was also very good at setting a scene and that’s something that her readers very much enjoyed.
Keyes was loved by the state of Louisiana not only for portraying aspects of their state in such a positive light, but also for the fact that she got almost everything exactly right because she wanted to do so and she felt it was her duty.
