Keyes mentions the invitation by GIlbert Grosvenor to speak at the National Geographic Society's mid-winter address. Grosvenor asks Keyes to speak on Germany. FPK observes, "my previous eagerness to be off has mounted to a fever point, but my prospects are no better than before."
