Cheese Festivals and shows are a great way to spark someone’s interest in cheese as well as celebrate those who are already playing huge roles in the cheese community. At the forefront you see big names like Cabot and Grafton and Maplebrook selling cheeses and competing for “best cheese” but what makes the whole thing happen is the Vermont Cheese Council (VCC). This organization is responsible for all things cheese in the Vermont area. The VCC is dedicated to the production and advancement of cheese; they keep people in the loop about cheese events and opportunities to further your cheese knowledge. They keep a detailed log of all the Vermont artisan cheese farms and the varieties of the cheeses on each farm, readily accessible to anyone. Not only does the VCC do a clear effective job relaying information to anyone interested, they also offer membership to those passionate about the cheese world.
