Dear Dr. Moale:
It ist with regret that I report that the Executive Committee of the Carl Schurz Memorial Foundation, Inc., declined your request for a grant to Mrs. Frances P. Keyes, to enable her to secure additional material for her new book. This does not in any way imply lack of interest in her project, but simply indicates that there are limitations on our funds, and that we are not in position to assist to this particular project.
May I say, however, that I hope Mrs. Keyes will find a way to go ahead with her plans. There is so much to be done in our bringing about a better understanding between nations, that each must do the best that can be done. Mrs. Keyes had great influence thru the reading public, and I trust that she will find a way to proceed with her plans.
Yours sincerely
