My dear Mrs. Keyes,

The president has received your letter on May 7th and requests me to say that, much as he would like to comply to your request, he is compelled to ask you to excuse him. He is under such tremendous pressure that he just cannot undertake anything additional at the present time.

I am sure you will have a sympathetic understanding of the situation.
Sincerely yours,
Theodore g. Joslin
Theodore G. Joslin
Secretary to the President.

Mrs. Henry W. Keyes,
