Dear Mrs. Keyes:
Your very intriguing box arrived yesterday afternoon, and I felt like Santa Claus as I opened it and took the various packages to their destination. You are very kind to remember us back home when you are so busy. I seldom have time to do more than send back a postcard when I go off on a trip. It must have taken hours for you to plan all these little remembrances, and I assure you that we all appreciate your thoughtfulness.
I am very sorry to learn that you have not lived up to your old record of beating down your difficulties and going about your usual work. I know that it must be a great disappointment to you to have to give up so many of the things you have planned to do. Perhaps this enforced rest will do you more good than you think.
Your latest article “How Many Miles to Babylon” is to me the most interesting one you have done about this trip. Perhaps that is because you are in a more romantic section. The next one should be even more glamorous, for Bagdad has always seemed to me to be the capital of romance, and if you do not do something splendid about it, I shall be greatly disappointed in you.
With best wishes.
Sincerely yours,
W. F. Bigelow
