Dear Mrs. Keyes-
Thanks for your letter of April 22.
I am quite aware, of course, that you have been having a very successful winter. The reaction in the Atlantic alone, following your paper, is the best sort of publicity for you. I must confess, however, to some reluctance at inviting "Lady Blanche Farm" back. We appreciate your offer to waive royalty on five thousand copies and, of course, it would be helped by the publicity you have been receiving. It is not, however, the type of novel in which we are really in need, for our fall list and I don't honestly believe that it is enough of an advance upon the "Old Gray Homestead" to promote your literary reputation in the most desirable way. it seems to me to be wiser for you to put it by, for the present and let us have a look at the "Safe Bridge" before taking any decisive steps about Lady Blanhce.
Faithfully yours,
Mrs. Frances Parkinson Keyes,
