Dear Mrs. Keyes,

It was very sweet of you to write me so promptly and I certainly appreciated your cordial letter with all its good wishes. I am terribly happy about my engagement to gov and think he is too. Gov has so many fine qualities that I have always admired him tremendously and in the last few years have come to love him dearly. I want to do everything possible to make his life a happy one, as I know he will mine.

My ring is lovely, and very unusual with the three pearls and two diamonds, as you probably know. I am looking forward to being able to wear it this weekend when we go to the Farm, as I don't have many opportunities to wear it yet. I had hoped that it might be possible for you to be there too, but maybe you will be coming to Boston before very long and I can see you then.

I hope your trip was pleasant and successful in all requests.
Affectionately, Betty
