Mr. Ferris Greenslet, February 2, 1928
Houghton Mifflin Co.,
2 Park St.,
Boston, Mass.
My dear Mr. Greenslet:
Thank you for your letter of the 30th. As you so kindly suggest, I will send you all of the travel material that I have as soon as I can put it in the proper shape to do so. I have been quite ill for the last fortnight, and am just beginning to struggle about for a little while each day so if I am not as prompt in availing myself of this opportunity as circumstances should seem to demand, I wish you to know that the reason is not one of mental indifference, but of indifferent health!
I am sorry you feel doubtful whether you could pull off a Houghton Mifflin morning at the Congressional Club. It never occurs to me any more that Washington is a long way from Boston -- literally speaking -- I grant it is a long way figuratively speaking. But the over-night journey is a fairly simple one to take and one of these "literary mornings" is being arranged by an organization in Topeka, Kansas, which seems to think nothing of transporting itself bodily to the capital and back to its mid-western habitat! However, there is no hurry about the matter in any case and I will telephone you when I arrive in Boston and come and talk the matter over with you in person as you so kindly suggest.
Very sincerely yours,
